President's Message

Sunday, May 11, 2008
Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.
Thanks to Scott King for hosting the presentation on this year’s Bloomin’ Barbeque and Bluegrass festival.  Please make plans to attend and support our city if you can!  Amanda mentioned the video on YouTube…here is the link    Sereta Pratt will have our program this week.   Tickets are on sale for our luau.  They are $25 each.  Please remember to promote this event among your friends and business associates.  The luau is only 2 ½ weeks away, so we need to try and sell as many tickets as we can!
For those of you who were not at last week’s meeting, I announced that Grant was in the hospital and had been diagnosed with colon cancer.  He had surgery on Friday, and the tumor was removed.  The surgeon says it is malignant melanoma, but will know more when the pathology report comes back.  As of Sunday evening, Grant has all the tubes out and is walking a little.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.  He is room 133 at Ft. Sanders Sevier.
See you on Tuesday.

Thanks to Ron Newcomb for his program last week.  Scott King will have our program tomorrow.   The date of the Luau has been changed from Saturday, May 31 to Friday, May 30.  David’s daughter is having a recital on Saturday.  He wasn’t going to tell us, but we found out and want to be sure he can attend!!!   Lauren will have tickets for sale tomorrow.  Please remember to be rounding up your auction items.
See you on Tuesday.

Hello everyone, I hope that your week is going well so far.
I want to thank David Ratliff for filling us in on the District Conference.  I was also proud to be able to present Muriel Higgins with the Excellence Award for her hard work on the well water project!   Ron Newcomb will have our program this week.  Please remember to mark your calendar for May 31, the day of our Spring Fundraiser.  Please provide an item for the silent auction that "describes" your vocation.
See you Tuesday.

Hello everyone, I hope that you had a great weekend.
I want to say thanks to Mike Brown, who filled in for Patrick Harrell, who was filling in for me!  Unfortunately, Patrick was delayed in court and didn't want to be held in contempt.  Thanks also to Muriel Higgins for hosting Charles Maynard...I heard great things about the program.  This week's program will be hosted by Robin Waters.  I am very excited to pass along that Jeff and Emily Pettis are the proud parents of a new baby daughter!  Morgan Elizabeth was born on Wednesday, and weighed in at 7lb 12.5 oz and is 19.5 inches long.  Both mom and daughter are doing great.  Congratulations Jeff and Emily!!!   Remember that our Spring fundraiser party will be on May 31.  As David has mentioned, please provide an auction item that is "desciptive" of your vocation.  Follow this link to David's online album of the Luaus
See you Tuesday.

Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.
My internet is finally working again!
Thanks to RJ Nelkin for his program last week.  We always enjoy his informative presentations.  This week's program will be hosted by Muriel Higgins.   District Assembly will be May 17 in Cookeville.  Let me know if you would like additional details.   Please mark your calendars for Saturday, May 31.  This will be the date of our spring fundraiser.  More details to follow soon.   I will be out of town tomorrow on a trip that came up on short notice.  Patrick will be filling in...have a great week!

Hello everyone, I hope you had a good weekend.
Thanks to Don Myers and the program featuring David Clinton last week.  It is always interesting to learn about issues that affect our community.
The board met last week, and Patrick presented some of his ideas for next year.  He went to PETS in Nashville this weekend, so he is getting in gear!  Let's give him all the support he needs as he begins his year as president.   Speaking of Patrick, he will have the program this week.
See you Tuesday.

Hello everyone, I hope that you all had a great Easter holiday.
I want to say thanks to Patrick Harrell for filling in for me last week.  Thanks again to everyone who helped with the dictionary project.  They were able to round up enough dictionaries for the children who did not originally receive them.  Good job!
If you have anything in mind that you could bring for Patrick Harrell to take to PETS training as a silent auction item, please bring it on Tuesday.  He needs to bring a small gift to be sold at the district conference.  Rick Harrell will have our program this week.
See you on Tuesday.

Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great day. Thanks to Patrick Harrell for standing in for me last week. We are in need of a speaker for tomorrow...if you can line-up a speaker on short notice or would like to speak, please let me know ASAP.  (Just wanted to let everyone know that Madeline will host Corey Johns with Economic Development tomorrow.  Thanks for the responses!) We will be taking up a donation tomorrow to complete the dictionary project.  Unfortunately, not quite enough dictionaries were ordered, and some kids did not receive one.  Thanks to all the folks who helped out last week!
The water project will kick-off on Monday March 24, at 9:15.  The hq will be at Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic.  If you can help, please let Muriel know.
Have a good day...see you tomorrow.

Good morning everyone.  How 'bout them Vols?!
I want to say thanks to Sue Dempersmier and Lauren Ogle for coming out and helping with the Sunrise club at the soccer fields. We will need some more volunteers to distribute dictionaries on Wednesday.  Plan on meeting at the Genealogy Annex on Court Avenue on Wednesday morning.  I believe the time is 9AM, but I will know for sure by the time of our meeting on Tuesday.  Let me encourage you to volunteer if you can.  I know everyone is busy, but our turnout for the workday on Saturday was pretty light, considering the Sunrise club had about a dozen members there. Marian Oates will have our program on Tuesday.  We will be meeting in the City Council room to the left of our usual meeting room; there is an event taking place that needs our room.
Have a great day...see you tomorrow.

Hello everyone, I hope you had a great weekend.
I want to say thanks to Lyle Overbay for hosting such a great program last week.  Learning about the Orbit Village Project was a moving program.  Cyndy Waters is truly a great ambassador and personifies "service above self".  The board voted to adopt the Zawadi project that Cyndy discussed as an international project.  Please bring gifts mentioned in the flyer she passed out: t-shirts, socks, underwear, dolls, Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars, stuffed animals, Legos, candy, and religious tracts.  She will be leaving for Kanya on 2/23, so we will plan on collecting these items for the next two meetings.  Lynn McClurg will have our program on Tuesday...see you then.

Hello to all,
Hope everyone is staying warm.  This is to let all of you know that the Seymour breakfast club will host a meet the candidates get together on January 30th at 6 pm.  We have asked all the candidates to come and talk about their stance on issues.  We will offer door prizes.  Please let your clubs know about this.  We are allowing make-ups if they stay for the whole hour.  We are not endorsing any of the candidates.  Just a way to let the community hear and talk with the candidates.
Thanks,
Bill

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend.  Don't forget that this week's meeting will be held at First United Methodist Church in Sevierville.  You can park in the lot on Cedar Street and enter the door to the right of the sanctuary entrance.  Jana Thomasson will have this week's program.  Keep in mind the following upcoming programs:
Tuesday, December 4--Gary Wade, TN Supreme Court Justice (and Ken's brother)
Tuesday, December 11--Bob Kesling, Voice of the Vols

I hope everyone had a great weekend and that you are all gearing-up for Thanksgiving!   Thanks to Patrick Harrell for filling in for me on Tuesday.  I will be out again this week, but will be at all the meetings through the end of the year after that.   Jim Sandelier has our program this week.  Please make plans to be there.   On Tuesday November 27, we will meet at the First United Methodist Church.  The board has discussed the possibility of moving to another venue for about a year...the Civic Center has been a good place to meet, but the large size of the room and stringent contract required by the Civic Center have led the board to feel another meeting place is in order.  The Church has been very accommodating and the board feels the meeting space available will meet our needs for years to come.  After the meeting on the 29th, we will hold a club-wide vote to determine if we will move.   To find the meeting room: enter the church on the right-hand Cedar Street entrance (this is the entrance to the right of the sanctuary).  The meeting room will be on your left.  There is a large parking lot across the street from the church on Cedar Street.   I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and that we can all take some time this week to reflect on the things in our lives we can be thankful for.

Have a great week!

Good evening/morning,

I hope that everyone had a great weekend.  I hear that Jimmy Hyams put on a great program last week...I'm sorry that I missed it, but I want to say thanks to Patrick Harrell for filling in last week.  This week's program will be arranged by Don Myers (unfortunately he will be unable to attend).  Lt. Ken Gardner from the Sevierville Police Department will speak on general homeland security issues.  Below is a bio:
Lt. Ken Garner is a 12 year veteran of the Sevierville Police Department, currently assigned as the city Homeland Security Officer. He is a 27 year U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard veteran as well.  He acts as the city EMA officer (disaster preparedness, community relations, training, etc.).  He is the supervisor of the MIDWATCH or Special Projects team.  He and his wife Kimberly have a home in Kodak.   We have some issues with our website that we need a volunteer to help with.  Larry Miller did a great job with our website, but since he left the club it has not been maintained.  If you are familiar with website design/maintenance, we NEED your help!!!
Please remember the following dates:
Tuesday, October 9 or 16 (TBD)--Bruce Pearl, UT Men's Basketball Coach
Tuesday, December 4--Gary Wade, TN Supreme Court Justice (and Ken's brother)
Tuesday, December 11--Bob Kesling, Voice of the Vols
See you Tuesday.
